Hurricane Irene - Veterinary Emergency Management Focus

In deepest appreciation for my colleague Martin Hugh Jones, who provided the following resource for veterinary emergency management operations:

LSU Emergency Animal Shelter: Disaster Response Manual: Guidelines for establishing a shelter for owned animals during disasters. Based on the experiences of the District 6 Emergency Animal Shelter at the LSU AgCenter’s Parker Coliseum following Hurricane Katrina.

Contingencies are being established to deal with the impact of Hurricane Irene. As with Hurricane Katrina, the potential exists for emergency management capabilities on the state and federal level to be overwhelmed, prompting the need for a DOD assistance:
